Get Better, Not Perfect.
/In a recent blog post "Be Positive About The Future," I wrote that I would revisit some of the scientific studies discussed in the the article "11 scientific studies that will restore your faith in humanity." The first one I revisited was "Helping Others Helps You," which is linked to a blog post on the Barking Up The Wrong Tree blog titled "Can you best reach your own potential by helping others reach theirs?" Today, I want to revisit "The most powerful goals aren't about being perfect; they're about getting better," which is linked to a blog post on the Barking Up The Wrong Tree blog titled "What's the secret to persistence?" This post discusses how when it comes to increasing motivation, it's not about doing well or looking good, it's about "getting better." In fact, get-better goals make tasks more interesting, replenish energy, and enhance "the experience of working; we naturally find what we do more interesting and enjoyable when we think about it in terms of progress, not perfection." I'm wondering if you use get-better goals, and if so how they work for you? Please share your thoughts in the Comments section below. Thanks.
