Hardwiring Happiness.
/I want to let you know about a new book by Dr. Rick Hanson I read about in Wildmind, which is titled, "Hardwiring Happiness: The New Brain Science of Contentment, Calm, and Confidence." The book speaks to the idea that in order for our ancestors to survive the brain developed a "negativity bias." Today however, this bias leaves us stressed and worried. Further, the inner strengths we need to build healthy, thriving lives, are built from positive experiences, but "these usually flow through the brain like water through a sieve, with no lasting value." Dr. Hanson suggests though, that when you stay with daily, positive experiences for longer periods of time, "you turn good moments into a great brain that gives you a durable resilience and well-being." I am interested to hear what you think about this work and how you might apply it in your life. Please leave your comments here and I look forward to discussing this further with you.
